Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks Live

The Seattle Seahawks will have plenty of new faces on the field and on the sideline during Week 1. Whether or not the new faces can blend in with old effectively remains to be seen. The revamped Seahawks will face their first test when they take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday (1:25 p.m. PT/4:25 p.m. ET, KPTV-12, FOX).

The Seahawks (9-7 in 2017) missed the playoffs last season for the first time since the 2011 season. The offense was inconsistent and the defense didn’t perform up to expectations. Coach Pete Carroll fired his offensive and defensive coordinators and key veterans – Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett, Kam Chancellor – are gone. Free safety Earl Thomas remains holdout in a contract dispute.

The Seahawks look as if they’re transitioning from a defensive-oriented team to one that is now going to be carried by quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson threw a league-high 34 touchdown passes in 2017 and could be poised for a big year. If he can get adequate protection from the offensive line, the Seahawks may not see the dropoff that many are predicting.

This is a new-look Seahawks defense, with many veterans retiring or released, but Earl Thomas is back after his offseason contract holdout. Offensively, the wide receiver position has been somewhat revamped, and fans are looking forward to a hopefully improved running game through Chris Carson and rookie Rashaad Penny.
